How to store tea

Have you ever had tea after a long time and found that it had lost its flavor?

Tea is often thought to have stable quality because it is dry, but in fact it is very susceptible to deterioration, and if stored improperly, its quality will deteriorate rapidly and it will lose its commercial value. Because tea is easily affected by temperature, humidity, air, light, etc., it is important to store it in a way that prevents its quality from deteriorating.

How to store it at home

For households, it is a good idea to purchase small quantities and use them up within two weeks to a month.

  1. If unopened, store in the refrigerator (or freezer).
However, be sure to allow tea taken out of the refrigerator to return to room temperature before using it. If you open the package too suddenly, the tea will absorb water droplets caused by the temperature difference, which will ruin the freshness of the tea.
  2. After opening, transfer to an airtight, light-proof container and store in a cool, dark place.
Also, avoid storing it in the refrigerator, as the tea leaves will absorb odors from the refrigerator and become damp when you take it in and out.
